Mason, Walter A. a 50 year resident of Redondo Beach passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 in his home. He was born in Arkansas on January 17, 1917. Walter had served in the Army during WWII and had been a member of the Los Angeles Harbor Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons in San Pedro. He had been a U.S. Customs Agent and had been in law enforcement for over 37 years.
He is he is survived by his wife Rose Mason of Redondo Beach; daughter Barbara Gobel of Buena Park; nephew Bobby Powell of Loma Linda; grandsons Allen Gobel of Arizona and Mark Gobel of La Habra; granddaughter Teri Lippon of Louisiana; step-son Edward DeNike and step-daughter Susan DeNike both of Washington; along with 8 great-grandchildren.
A gathering of family & friends will be held today, Tuesday, December 6, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Rice Mortuary, 5310 Torrance Blvd. in Torrance. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 7, at 10:00 A.M in Rice's Chapel immediately followed by a reception in Rice's Lighthouse Reception Room. Burial will follow with Military Honors at Roosevelt Memorial Park in Gardena.
