Judge Thomas P. Foye, retired, passed away February 12, 2007. He was born in Los Angeles June 23, 1918. He attended local schools including Loyola High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1939 and Bachelor of Law degree from Loyola University College of Law in 1951. After being in the private practice of law, he was appointed as Municipal Court Judge in June, 1968 by then Gov. Ronald Reagan. He served in Los Angeles County, Torrance, where he led in pioneering the judicial sanction of long term treatment for the alcoholic. He retired in 1985, and continued for some time in the Courts and did arbitrations. Judge Foye served in the Navy in World War ll. He was on the Manhattan Beach City Council 1954-1958 and served as Mayor of Manhattan Beach 1955-1957. He was a member of the South Bay Bar Association and served as president in 1967.
He is survived by his wife, Inez; his children, Maureen, Patrick, Colleen, and Timothy, and their spouses, and son, Michael, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Visitation/viewing will begin at 10:00 AM Monday, February 19, 2007 at the St. John Fisher Catholic Church in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 am at the Church. Private burial will be Tuesday at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, CA.
