Reidy, John Vincent, a 51 year resident of Torrance, passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 in Torrance. Born in Douglas, AZ., John was 91 when he died. His family moved to Los Angeles in 1930 and he grew up in South Central which he always referred to as the South West. He graduated from St. Michaels Grammar School and St. Agnes High School. After taking some College courses, he went to work for Douglas Aircraft Company. With the onset of World War 2 he served in the Army Air Corps. After the War he went to work for Pacific Telephone Company. He started out at an entry level position and quickly worked his way up. In 1955 he met and fell in love with Mary J. McCarthy of Rochester, New York. They were married on July 20th, 1957 in Rochester. The Reidy family moved to West Torrance in 1959. He loved Notre Dame football and golf. He was at his best when he was doing projects around the house. His main hobbies were brickwork, yard work and doing crossword puzzles. He adored all dogs. He was very active in the Catholic Church and had a very strong faith. John is survived by Sons, John P. Reidy, James C. Reidy, Timothy P. Reidy, Daughter, Maureen A. Trelease (Steven), and two Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary. The service will be held at St. Lawrence Martyr Church on Friday, September 10, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. Private burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes.
