Etsuko Monica Kawata, a 40 year resident of Torrance, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2006 in Torrance. Born in Long Beach, CA, Etsuko was 79 when she died. Following her family’s internment during WWII, Etsuko began her career as a secretary working for the US Army Chaplain’s office and later, the Los Angeles County Board of Education. Upon her marriage in 1966 and children in 1968 and 1969, Etsuko began her ‘second’ career as a homemaker. In addition to her role as devoted Mom and wife, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, shopping and completing challenging crossword puzzles.
She is survived by Husband, Tedd Kawata of Torrance, CA and daughters Tami Kawata and Mia Kawata of Hermosa Beach, CA. Preceded in death by Father, Aikichi Osako and Mother, Noru Osako.
